GPS tracking leads police to the stolen SUV

A 22-year-old convicted car thief released from state prison in March was arrested again Monday after a GPS unit led Gainesville police to a stolen car with him inside.

Rashay Lava Garrison, was charged with grand theft auto, drug possession within 1,000 feet of a church, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and no valid driver’s license.

According to an arrest report filed by Cpl. Courtnay Roberts, a GPS signal led police to a white Mercedes SUV that had been reported stolen (…) over the weekend. Police spokesman Lt. Keith Kameg said officers called the roadside assistance service for Mercedes and company officials were able to provide the GPS coordinates.
