The market for fitness smartwatches is pretty saturated. There are a number of brands making smartwatches but very few hit the bull’s eye. Today, in this Garmin Fenix 6 review, we’ll have a look at the Fenix 6 watch from Garmin that’s said to be one of the best multisport smartwatches.

An upgraded version of the very well received the Garmin Fenix 5 Plus, the Fenix 6 takes it up a notch and offers some incredible features. But, is it worth a purchase? Let’s find out in this Garmin Fenix 6 review:

Garmin Fenix 6 Features

Ergonomics

The Garmin Fenix 6 impresses in this department. The watch is durable and feels solid. It features sapphire glass and stainless steel casing that adds to the look and makes it appear sturdy.

It comes with QuickFit silicone bands that you can opt to attach or remove without any trouble. You can choose from a number of variations including titanium, metal, leather, and nylon. However, some can be pretty expensive.

The machine features five push buttons that are easy to use. We loved the size and resolution of the screen. You will have no problem in using it outdoors, even when the sun is out. If needed, you can count on the screen-light toggle button given in the top left.

While the watch is pretty comfortable to wear, some users may prefer to take it off for sleeping. This will prevent the body battery function from giving you accurate readings.

Modes and Battery Life

Here are some modes:

  • Battery Conservation Mode: The machine comes with a battery conservation feature that’ll give you up to 46 days on a single charge (limited functionality). This makes it one of the most reliable multisport smartwatch on the market. However, we don’t think it is of much use – unless you plan to disappear for 1.5 months.
  • Smartwatch Mode: The watch runs for about 2 weeks in smartwatch mode, which is still pretty impressive. You’ll enjoy almost all the features this has to offer.
  • Max Battery Mode: It will only last for about 72 hours. This mode lets the watch record track points and important sensor data less frequently to improve battery life.
  • GPS Mode: It will last for about 36 days, which may not be enough but is pretty decent when compared to other similar options. You will have to charge it once a day only.

Precision and Tracking

The Fenix 6 fitness watch is impressive in this department. It can easily read the heart rate and provides pretty accurate results.

We loved how quickly the GPS function works. You will not have to wait for the machine to pick up signals. It uses a GLONASS+GPS system that provides great precision and connectivity.

The machine displays up to six data fields – all in real-time – including distance, cadence, lap timer, pace, overall time, and heart rate. You can, however, opt to customize settings.

The machine works pretty well indoors and can be used to track gym sessions to understand your performance. It can monitor activity and even count reps automatically.

You can use the Garmin Connect app to change settings and add reps or weight manually. Another additional benefit is the Garmin Coach program that can help you prepare for your next run.

Pros:

  • Very lightweight and comfortable to wear at just 82 grams
  • It gives training tips based on blood oxygen levels and VO2 max levels
  • The widget view is pretty neat
  • Comes with a pulse oximeter
  • The machine can track heart rate underwater

Cons:

  • May bob a little when you run due to the heavier casing
  • Not very attractive or stylish

Garmin Fenix 6 Review: Conclusion

The Garmin Fenix 6 is one of the most powerful smartwatches on the market. It excels when it comes to accuracy, performance, and battery life. However, it isn’t very cheap, but it does what it promises to do. Make sure to strap it properly and it will allow you to keep an eye on your health and performance.
