Google GPS Navigation
Android-based smartphones in Europe and Canada can now be used as GPS devices, thanks to a new version of Google?s Maps Navigation software.
Google Maps Navigation v.4.2 features turn-by-turn voice directions throughout Canada, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. This service was previously available only in the U.S.
The software can be downloaded for free via the Android Market, and works on smartphones running Android OS 1.6 or higher. On Android 2.x devices, directions are available in multiple languages, including French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
